There are few voices in classic rock capable of filling the shoes of a legend. Fran Cosmo didn't just do that, he became one.
Best known as the longtime lead vocalist of the iconic rock band Boston, Fran spent over a decade touring the world and performing the band's legendary catalogue to millions of fans. His soaring vocals, commanding stage presence and unmistakable sound helped define Boston's live performances throughout the 1990s and early 2000s.
Fran first stepped into the spotlight in 1992 when he succeeded Brad Delp as Boston's lead singer. His debut with the band came on the platinum-selling album Walk On, which reached No. 7 on the Billboard Charts and produced the hit single I Need Your Love, climbing to No. 4 on the Mainstream Rock Chart.
When Brad Delp later returned to the band, the two shared lead vocal duties, creating one of classic rock's most memorable live pairings. Together they performed on worldwide tours and the album Corporate America, with Fran also delivering the fan-favourite live version of Livin' For You, now considered one of Boston's signature concert moments.
Long before joining Boston, Fran was already making waves as the lead vocalist of Orion the Hunter, the acclaimed rock supergroup featuring former Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau and Heart drummer Michael DeRosier. Their hit single So You Ran, co-written by Fran, became an AOR radio favourite, earning heavy MTV rotation and leading to a national tour alongside Aerosmith on their legendary Back in the Saddle tour.
Today, Fran Cosmo continues to bring the music of Boston to audiences around the world with his own exceptional live band.
